Cause Description:
OUR PLACE is open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at 513 W. Galllatin St in downtown Vandalia, IL. A paid attendant and a volunteer attendant provide snacks and refreshnments, crafts, pool, air hockey and other activities for youth age 8 - 17 years of age. This program was set up to keep youths busy and off the streets. On the 4th Tuesday of each month, our local Soroptomist club helps the youth prepare healthy meals and then they all enjoy eating it! Also, on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons, paid tutors help second grade students who have trouble reading. Many of the teens are OUR PLACE members and enjoy a paid job and satisfaction in helping a younger child in reading skills. All services are free. We are a 501 (C) 3 not for profit. All donations come from churches, individual and some grants. All donations would be appreciated. Our mission is based on the principles of love, forgiveness and acceptance. Thank you and God bless.
