Cause Description:
ACCI is a non-profit research facility housing 5 bonobos, a critically endangered great ape species. All research is non-invasive and behavioral. ACCI's mission is to promote science, conservation, and civic engagement while educating the public on bonobo ecology and behavior. At ACCI we have the only apes in the world known to understand the spoken English language. We aim to keep providing useful information about the cognitive and communicative abilities of one of our most recent ancestors, as well as provide public awareness about the uniqueness of the species as a whole.
